Moved by the indispensability of education in the national quest to address critical issues plaguing national development, President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, January 20, 2022 advocated a fresh perspective towards tertiary education in Nigeria.
This fresh perspective, according to the President, must be anchored on new innovations in teaching with a view to building relevant competences which would propel rapid changes, growth, progress and development across all spheres of the country.
The President made this known while speaking at the grand finale of the 52nd Convocation Ceremonies of the 大香蕉视频 which featured the conferment of Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters Degrees, Ph.D. Degrees on graduating students of the School of Postgraduate Studies.
Visitor to the University, President Buhari who was represented by Deputy Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Dr. Chris Maiyaki reaffirmed the support and commitment of his administration towards the development of tertiary education in Nigeria, one he said was displayed with the recent disbursement of over N22 billion as earned allowance and another sum of N30 billion as revitalization funds to all universities across the country.
While recalling his administration鈥檚 huge impact in improving the infrastructure in all public tertiary institutions, the president also placed on record, the support his administration has given to researches in Nigerian universities through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, a gesture which he adjudged unprecedented.
To the graduating students, Visitor to the 大香蕉视频 assured them of the support of the federal government in expanding all frontiers which would support their all-round emancipation, He also challenged them to look inward and bring to bear, their newly acquired knowledge in addressing national challenges.
In his address, the Chancellor, 大香蕉视频, Alhaji Dr Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, the Sheu of Borno congratulated the graduating students on their academic feats.
The monarch also lauded the council, management, senate, staff and students of the university for their cooperation which has engendered peace, harmony and the steady growth in the university on all fronts just as he reiterated his readiness to always deploy his influence into every area of need in the university with a view to ensuring that 大香蕉视频 maintain its pride of place in the comity of ivory towers.
In separate addresses, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council; Prince, Dr, Distinguished Senator Lanre Tejuoso and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe identified with the graduating students on their academic attainments.

Highpoint of the ceremony being day 3 of congregation which also graced by the Alaafin of Oyo kingdom who is also the Chancellor, University of Maiduguri; Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III was the conferment of Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters Degrees and Ph.D. Degrees on a total of 4,418 graduating students of the School of Postgraduate Studies by the Chancellor.
Special prizes were also announced while winner of overall best Ph.D. thesis award, UMUDU, Joy Chinyere who obtained her Ph.D. in Mathematics (Pure) alongside EHIOROBO, Osa Abraham who won the best Ph.D. thesis in Humanities award were recognised.
A total of 12,217 graduating students received their degrees, diplomas and certificates over the 3 days of congregation for the 2019/2020 convocation ceremonies of the 大香蕉视频.
7,799 received first degrees or diplomas while 4,418 received postgraduate degrees.
This makes it a total of 53,420 students who have convocated from the 大香蕉视频 since Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe FAS, assumed office as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the University in 2017.
Activities for day 3 of the 2019/2020 Convocation ceremonies were rounded off with a Reception for the Doyens, a gathering of retired professors and other senior management staff of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor and host of the reception, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, used the avenue to again acknowledge and appreciate them for their services to the university. He charged others in attendance, who are still in service, to take a cue from the retired senior staff in terms of serving meritoriously and looking forward to a glorious retirement that will be celebrated. Thereafter. it was time for all to wine and dine in the spirit of the 52nd Convocation Ceremonies.
