´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, on Friday, February 4, 2022, handed over the project site for the vertical extension of the Mechanical Engineering block to a donor, Engr. Wole Ogunsanya.

Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, FNSE, an alumnus of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, a former Chief whip of the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Students House of Representatives, and GMD, Geoplex Drillteq Limited, while making his remarks, Engr. Ogunsanya stated that ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ alumni always need a platform to give-back to the University. He revealed that the idea to support the Faculty emanated from Engr. Falobi’s initiative to bring the alumni together including the Governors of Lagos State and Oyo State, as well as the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Dr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, all alumni of the Faculty to wgive back to the University. He assured that the project would be constructed and delivered on time.

The Chairman of the Engineering Alumni Association, Engr. Dideolu Falobi in his speech noted that there are about 4 buildings which would be extended vertically, as handed over to the association by the Faculty – the Dean’s office, Departments of Mechanical and Civil Engineering and a classroom which will contain 180 students. He also revealed that Students Study Centre – a 2-storey glass building with internet facility and a cafeteria would be built at the venue of the event.

The Chairman, ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Alumni Association worldwide, Dr. John Momoh ably represented by the Chairman, ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Alumni Association, Lagos branch, Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, in his brief address, pledged the total support of the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Alumni Association in promoting the laudable feat while applauding the administration of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Mufutau Sadiq thanked the Faculty’s Alumni Association for the plans put in place, and especially the donor of the project.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, charged the Faculty of Engineering to tap into the culture of harnessing the power of the alumni as the alumni of any University are the owners of that University.  He enjoined them to bring in life into the Alumni Association. He also charged the Faculty to be progressive and provide solutions to problems always. He admonished the Faculty to showcase its glory and not hide it, as there is so much that can come out of the Faculty.

The vertical extension of the Mechanical Engineering block project is one of the many projects conceived and designed by the Faculty of Engineering to be taken up by the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association (´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵFEAA).
