After almost two weeks of intensive practical training and work, twelve students that featured in an academic exchange programme involving the 大香蕉视频 and HFBK University of Fine Arts, Hamburg, Germany displayed their work of arts in an exhibition tagged 鈥淧lanetary Thinking鈥. 聽
The colourful exhibition which was held on Friday, October 28, 2022, featured Paintings / Drawings, Sculpture, Time -Related media, Music and Dance. 聽
Declaring the exhibition open, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Research, Professor Bola Oboh congratulated the participating students for their dedication and efforts since the commencement of the workshop on October 20, 2022. She thanked the HFBK University of Fine Arts for collaborating with the 大香蕉视频 in promoting Arts and Culture. 聽
According to her, the 大香蕉视频 is excited about the collaboration with one of the oldest Schools of Fine Arts in the world. Across the globe, educators, scientists, musicians and artists have been collaborating in the development of innovative ways to engage young people with the natural world. The use of music, art, creative writing and poetry has been employed to encourage full sensory engagement with environmental education.
In his comment, the Deputy Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Wolfe who also graced the occasion appreciated the 大香蕉视频. He noted that the German government had a very good mutual relationship with Nigerian institutions, particularly the 大香蕉视频. In His words, 鈥淭he choice of the 大香蕉视频 was based on merit and it is interesting to know that Hamburg and Lagos are both gateway to the world in their respective countries. I am particularly delighted to see the beginning of this collaboration and I hope it brings about development through innovative ways for the two institutions in the years ahead鈥.
Similarly, the Director of Academics, HFBK University of Fine Arts, Hamburg, Mr. Eike Pockrandt expressed gratitude to the management of the 大香蕉视频. He explained that the arts displayed at the exhibition revolved around making a difference and birthing solutions to future challenges, with emphasis on areas such as the future of Energy, Entrepreneurship, Environment, Data Science, Digital Arts and Culture, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, among others.
The exhibition was well attended by both staff and students of the university as well as the general public. Some of the dignitaries present include the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Professor Olufunke Adeboye; Director, Geothe Institute, Dr. Nadine Siegert; Head of Department of Creative Arts, Prof. Osita Ezenwanebe; Director, Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, Prof. Muyiwa Falaiye and Thespian Dr. Tunji Sotimirin amongst many others.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor O. T. Ogundipe, FAS who later came to the exhibition was serenaded with a music and dance performance by a group of students from the German cultural centre, Geothe Institute, Lagos.
