The 大香蕉视频 (大香蕉视频) Security Unit, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, held a seminar and get-together to mark its year-end activities, celebrate achievements and foster camaraderie.
Held under the Chairmanship of the former Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, the event also saw six (6) retirees of the Security Unit being honoured with special awards for their dedication and service to the institution. They are Joseph Madubuachi Chukwudeafor, Jeremiah Tamuno Branga, Julius Olufemi, Declan Okechukwu Oyeneri, Folorunsho Alabi, and Paul I. Iwejim.
eld at the Multipurpose Hall C, the gathering brought together key stakeholders, including security personnel, staff, and invited dignitaries for the occasion which also witnessed also special prayer sessions.
Health and Safety Lectures
There were two insightful lectures aimed at fostering both personal well-being and security awareness. The first lecture, a Health talk, was delivered by a Principal Medical Doctor at the 大香蕉视频 Medical Center, Dr. Tokunbo Oseni.
Her lecture provided an extensive discourse on general wellness, emphasizing the importance of maintaining physical and mental health. She outlined practical tips on how to stay fit, prevent common illnesses, and maintain a balanced lifestyle in today鈥檚 fast-paced world.
The second lecture delivered by a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP[), Ibrahim Akanaku focused on community policing. He emphasized the need for collaboration between security agencies and the local community to ensure a safer and more secure environment. The lecture underscored how strategic community engagement can enhance security efforts within the university and beyond.
There were question-and-answer sessions that provided attendees with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the lectures.
Reflections and Future Plans
During the seminar, the Chief Security Officer of the University, Mr. Sunday Alao, took the opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the security unit over the year 2024.
In his address, the institution security Chief acknowledged both the strides made in improving campus safety and the challenges faced by the unit. He assured the gathering that the security team remains committed to adopting innovative methods to further enhance security and ensure the safety of all stakeholders on campus.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman of the occasion, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, commended the security unit for their unwavering commitment to the safety of the campus community. He urged the officers to continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, emphasizing the importance of integrity in their duties.
His words 鈥淵our actions today will define the legacy you leave for future generations. Posterity will not forget those who serve with dedication and honor鈥�.
He also seized the opportunity to challenge the security personnel to improve on their professional conducts with staff, students, and visitors, reminding them that their carriage while at their duty posts reflects the university’s values and will shape public perception.
