The stunning performance of Naomi Nnamdi Chinyere secured the first gold medal for Team ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ in the ongoing #NUGA´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ2022 games.
Naomi Chinyere outpaced 12 other contestants by completing the steady 5000 metre walk-race (Female Category) in 33 minutes, 27 seconds.
Habibat Adeshina from the University of Ilorin came second after finishing the race in 33 minutes and 39 seconds while Rita Odigbo who ran for the University of Port Harcourt won the bronze medal at 34 minutes, 44 seconds.
In the male category, Apebu Akugbe James of the Benson Idahosa University won the gold medal of the contest for finishing the steady 5000 metre walk-race in 30 minutes, 18 seconds, Danladi Philemon of the University of Maiduguri is the Silver medallist at 30 minutes, 30 seconds while Abdulfatai Abdulahi of Osun State University is the bronze winner at 31 minutes, 5 seconds.
In Basketball, Team ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ also staged a victorious outing by defeating its counterpart from the University of Benin on a 41-33 score aggregate just as the Niger Delta University won against the University of Ilorin.
In the female category, the team from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) defeated Lead City University while the teams from ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ, Lagos State University and the Bayero University had their victories via walkover.
Also, in male Football, Team ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ edged Olabisi Onabanjo University after a lone goal recorded midway into the second half of the encounter which took place on the football pitch of the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Sports Complex.
The ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ female football team also had a swell outing by scoring 4 goals against their counterpart from the University of Ibadan who fired blank.
