Guidelines for Academic Staff
Interested academic members are advised to use the opportunity provided by the TETFund Conference Attendance Intervention for their development by visiting the Academic Planning Unit, 7th Floor, Senate House, ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ, Akoka to obtain and submit application according to the following guidelines:

1 | It must be an academic conference organized by academic institutions, learned society, and/or recognized and reputable professional bodies. Predatory conferences being organized by third party Predatory Conference Organizers (PCOs) must not be recommended to the Fund. |
2 | The registration fee for the conference MUST NOT EXCEED |
3 | The duration of the conference must not exceed five (5) days. |
4 | For Group Conference/Workshop: Only a maximum of 7 (Seven) Teaching Staff of a department could attend a group conference (and not workshop) within a given intervention year. |
5 | TETFund and customized ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ application forms must be obtained from Academic Planning Unit from Wednesday, 18th December, 2024 and be submitted on or before Monday, 24th March, 2025. Please ensure that the Conference date is at least three (3) months after the deadline for submission (For example, conferences from June 2025 and after). |
Eligibility | |
6 | Must be a Nigerian full-time staff of the University. |
7 | Must apply to present a paper and participate in an academic conference organized by academic institutions, learned society (regional, national or international), and/or recognized professional bodies. |
8 | Must present the evidence of the accepted paper for oral presentation and not a poster at the conference. |
9 | Staff previously sponsored by the Fund to attend and present paper at any conference must present evidence of attendance and presentation [certificate of attendance, conference proceedings etc] before qualifying to be sponsored to attend another conference with TETFund support. |
10 | Any Staff that was previously sponsored by the Fund to attend and present a paper at an international conference must present evidence of publishing at least one (1) article in any first quartile journal or two (2) articles in any second quartile journals before qualifying to be sponsored to attend another international conference. |
11 | You can only be sponsored to attend and present paper at an international conference once every three (3) years. |
12 | Principal Officers can be recommended to attend local or international conference once in three (3) years. All subsisting requirements under this guideline apply. |
13 | Submission for Conference attendance should indicate the present status and salary scale of attendees. |
14 | Conference flyer indicating conference themes, registration fee and conference duration should be attached to your application. |
15 | All successful beneficiaries are to forward the following to the Academic Planning Unit after their Conferences: (i) Certificate of Attendance         (ii) Evidence of registration for the Conference                (iii) Pictures at the Conference venue (iv) Copies of boarding passes (for foreign conferences) |
Guidelines for Non-Teaching Staff:
Heads of Units/Departments are enjoined to nominate suitably qualified non-teaching staff to use the opportunity provided by TETFund Conference Attendance Intervention for Staff Development.
The responsibility to select appropriate conferences/workshop, which will impart requisite skills on the job to the nominee, is placed on the Head of Unit/Department. Since the fund may not accommodate all staff at once, Units/Departments are requested to create and use a Conference Attendance Roster on yearly basis. Nominees are to approach the Academic Planning Unit with a memo duly endorsed by the Head to obtain the conference attendance form.
The processing of applications will be in accordance to the following guidelines:
