大香蕉视频 Hosts African Chapter of UNESCO MILID University Network

The African Chapter of the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue (MILID) University Network has been inaugurated at the 大香蕉视频 (大香蕉视频), Nigeria.

With its headquarter in 大香蕉视频 and regional offices in the other four regions of Africa, the chapter is headed by Associate Prof. Olunifesi Suraj of the Department of Mass Communication, 大香蕉视频. Associate Prof. Suraj, a renowned Strategic Communication, Disinformation & Media and Digital Literacy don, is co-lead of UNESCO Global Network of Universities (UNITWIN) and co-lead of the Global UNESCO University Network on Media and Information Literacy,

The inauguration which was hosted online attracted a lot of participants from African Universities in different regions of Africa, UNESCO African Regional Offices and headquarter in Paris, UNESCO National Commission Office and other UN agencies.

According to Dr. Olunifesi Suraj, the African chapter of the UNESCO University network will help to harness all the African developmental initiatives by localizing the global solutions using media and information literacy strategy.

His words:
鈥淗aving taken into consideration, the Operational Strategy for Priority Africa 2022-2029, the evaluation of the previous Strategy 2014-2021 conducted by the Internal Oversight Service, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations鈥 Agenda 2030, the African Union’s Agenda 2063 “The Africa We Want”, Kampala 2020 鈥淢OULD鈥 Action plan, the various activities of UNESCO Africa Group, programme sectors at Headquarters, field offices in Africa and the Bureau of Strategic Planning, the African Chapter of the UNESCO MILID University Network will work towards actualizing the Agenda 2063 renew vision for 鈥淎n integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens, representing a dynamic force in the international arena鈥.

In her remarks at the event, 大香蕉视频 Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa pledged the University鈥檚 support for the chapter and initiatives of the African Chapter of the network. Similarly, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, 大香蕉视频, Prof. Adelaja Odukoya, congratulated Dr. Olunifesi Suraj for the initiative, and promised to give all the necessary support to make the chapter a successful one.

Other speakers including Prof. Jose Manuel from University of Autonoma Barcelona in Spain, a global co-lead with Olunifesi Suraj, equally praised the 大香蕉视频 management, and promised to give international support to the project.

After performing the rituals of the inauguration, the African chapter of UNESCO MILID University Network was officially unveiled by the pioneer of the project, Dr. Olunifesi Suraj with toasts 鈥淎frica we want鈥 filling the air.
