55th Convocation Ceremonies: ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Muslim Community Hosts Special Jum’at Prayer, Offers Prayers for the University

The 55th Convocation Ceremonies of the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ (´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ) has continued to gather momentum as a Special Jum’at Prayer Session was hosted by the University Muslim Community (UMC) on Friday, January 10, 2025 at the Islamic Centre within the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Central Mosque compound.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, and other members of the University management team witnessed the prayer session along with a cross-section of staff, students, and members of the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ community in a spirit of unity and spiritual renewal.

In her address, Professor Ogunsola expressed deep gratitude to the UMC leadership for their continued support and contributions to the spiritual and cultural life of the University. She underscored the pivotal role of the mosque in fostering peace and unity within the academic community.

In his address, Chairman of ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Muslim Community, Professor Hakeem Olaniyan highlighted ongoing efforts by the institution’s muslim body to support the University’s leadership. His speech was one of appreciation for the immense support being provided by the current management for the community.

According to him, the importance of collaboration between the UMC and the University administration cannot be understated as this partnership is crucial to efforts aimed at addressing challenges and advancing the University’s mission.

Earlier in his sermon, the Chief Imam of the University, Professor Ismail Musa, delivered a powerful and thought-provoking message. While expressing concern over the lack of sufficient appreciation by some University staff for the efforts of the University Management thus far, Professor Musa urged members of staff and the wider university community to recognize and support the leadership’s efforts to propel the institution forward.
