´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Joins Discourse on Inclusive Digital Transformation at Afretec Annual Conference

Delegates from the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ recently joined other members of the African Engineering and Technology (Afretec) Network to discuss inclusive digital transformation.

This discussion was held at the 2025 Annual Conference of the Afretec Network hosted by the University of Rwanda, from January 20 to 21, 2025.

The conference which was an invitation-only event provided an avenue for member-universities to exchange ideas on their collaborative initiatives, share success stories, and develop actionable strategies aimed at fostering inclusive digital growth for the betterment of the African continent.

The conference was well attended by dignitaries, including Rwanda’s Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana, who delivered the Keynote Address as the Guest of Honour.

The ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ delegation to the conference included: Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Professor Bola Oboh; Directors of International Relations, Partnerships and Prospects (IRPP), Adetokunbo Babatunde Sofoluwe – Centre for Information & Technology Systems (ABS-CITS), Central Industrial Liaison and Placement Unit (CILPU), Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre (ESDC) and National Information and Technology and Development Agency Hub (NITHub): Professor Ismail Ibraheem, Professor A. Amuda, Professor Johnson Agunsoye; Prof. Sunday Adebisi and Dr. Victor Odumuyiwa as well as Board Chairman, ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ Consult, Prof. Uchenna Udeani among others.

The African Engineering and Technology Network (Afretec) is a pan-African collaboration of technology-focused universities from across the African continent. The Network comprises Carnegie Mellon University Africa; ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ, University of Rwanda, The American University in Cairo, Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar, University of Nairobi, Al Akhawayn University, and University of Witwatersrand. The Network is a platform charged with driving inclusive digital growth through collaboration in teaching, learning, research, and entrepreneurship—fostering innovation in engineering and technology.

Afretec is administrated by a dedicated support office located at Carnegie Mellon University Africa in Kigali, Rwanda.
