The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, received Alhaji Mohammed Indimi, OFR, Chairman/CEO of Oriental Energy Resources Limited, at his office on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
The notable businessman and philanthropist visited the university to explore and discuss collaborative opportunities.
In view of this, the Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by the Management Team, Directors, Deans and other members of staff, took Alhaji Indimi and his entourage on a grand tour of the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ. The tour was coordinated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Lucian Chukwu.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ogundipe, FAS, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa, made presentations on the numerous feats of the university and the strides it has made in infrastructural development.
The presentations culminated in the proposal for the construction of the Alhaji Dr. Mohammed Indimi Distance Learning Institute – a building proposed as an upgrade of the current Distance Learning Institute building.
Alhaji Indimi received the proposal with delight. He assured all that were present that the building proposal has been duly noted and he would communicate his decision to the university once he and his team reach a consensus on it.
Mustafa Indimi, Technical Director of Oriental Energy Resources, expressed gratitude at the reception given by the Vice-Chancellor and his team. He also expressed a desire to mentor some students of the Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre of the ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ, into whom he would love to impart the same business lessons and wealth of knowledge that he had gotten from his father.
He averred that his father is a “very successful businessman”, from whom he learned about integrity as one of the key foundations for a life of success in business and career. This is a lesson he hopes to instil in the young ´óÏ㽶ÊÓƵ entrepreneurs.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics & Research), Professor Oluwole Familoni, FAS, gave the vote of thanks in appreciation of the esteemed guests.
The visit came to a close with group photographs and a cosy reception for the guests.
In the company of the billionaire philanthropist were his sons, Ibrahim Indimi, (Director, Oriental Energy Resources Ltd.), Mustafa Indimi, (Technical Director, Oriental Energy Resources Ltd) and Abdallah Indimi, his younger son and his Public Relations Officer, Mamman Ibrahim Gur.
