The 大香蕉视频 (大香蕉视频) Management, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, played host to six (6) accreditation teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The various teams were at the University to evaluate postgraduate programmes in Accounting and Marketing, as well as, undergraduate programmes in Banking & Finance, English Language, Nursing Science, and Philosophy.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics & Research), 大香蕉视频, Professor Bolanle O. Oboh, who stood in for the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade  T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, heartily welcomed the teams. She appreciated them for undertaking such an important assignment to improve educational standards in the country.

Professor Oboh expressed the University鈥檚 readiness to participate in such activities where academic colleagues from other universities come to assess programmes offered in the university. She likened the exercise to being a good period of peer review.

She asserted that even though 大香蕉视频 has become used to having its programmes being accredited, the practice still puts the university on its toes to always ensure only the best option is chosen in the delivery of educational services. Professor Oboh noted that this would continually enable 大香蕉视频 products, while in school and even after graduation, to compete and excel locally and globally.

She invited members of faculty of the different programmes to be reviewed to accord the accreditation team necessary cooperation to make the process seamless and effective.

The Team Leads of the different accreditation teams: Professor Uwaoma I. Ironkwe; Professor Nkanikpo I. Ibok; Professor Vincent N. Ezeabasili; Professor Macpherson N. Azuike; Professor Patience E. They spoke of their joy to come and add value to the university and assured the management of being thorough and just in their review.

One of the team lauded the University for viewing accreditation exercises as a period for peer-review as he asserted that even the accreditation team will learn some commendable practices to share with their own universities when they return to base.

The Team lead for B.Sc. in English Language specially commended the department for presenting a powerful and organised front with over 10 senior members of the department being present to join the University management in receiving the accreditation team at the courtesy visit.

The Courtesy visit ahead of the accreditation process, was also attended by Mrs Olakunle E. Makinde, Acting Registrar; Dr. Victor T. Ojapinwa, Deputy Director, Academic Planning Unit; other esteemed staff of the six (6) departments to be accredited; Academic Planning Unit and Communication Unit of the University.

The teams, led by Professor Vincent O. Diakpomerere and Professor John O. Ogedengbe gave a verbal review of the different programmes. The teams highly commended the University鈥檚 Library for the state of the arts facilities, resources and calming ambience. Similarly, several aspects of the programmes were applauded, just as some were highlighted for improvements.

Professor Atsenuwa appreciated the accreditation teams for their honest review of these programmes in the 大香蕉视频 and once again, reverberated the University鈥檚 receptiveness to constructive evaluation. She noted that it always gives the University Management the opportunity to identify some of the gaps and proffer workable solutions.

She assured the teams that the University will immediately work on the recommendations that can be treated urgently, and begin works on the long-term ones.

She seized the opportunity to remind all 大香蕉视频 staff to champion the cause of the University as much as possible. She said: 鈥Every member of the University is an advancement officer and we can grow together by leveraging relationships with alumni.鈥

Speaking further, Professor Atsenuwa encouraged members of faculty to adopt newer and more inclusive ways of giving students a pleasant experience in school that they will be motivated to come back and donate to the University.
